Retaining control of the upper house in the US mid-term elections was considered a major victory for the Democrats.
Democrats cheered after winning 50 seats in the US Senate, allowing President Joe Biden to keep the agenda on track for the rest of his presidency.
He was previously predicted to lose control of the Senate.
If the chamber is evenly split 50-50, Vice President Kamilla Harris can cast the tie-breaking vote.
Republicans have won 49 seats in the Senate, while Republicans have won over Democrats in the House of Representatives so far.
