The Afghan Taliban have assured the US that they will fight the war of others and will not allow Afghan soil to be used against anyone.
According to Afghan sources, a high-level delegation of the Afghan Taliban held important meetings with American officials in the Qatari capital, Doha, in recent days.
The Afghan government was represented in the meetings by the intelligence chief of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Maulvi Abdul Haq Wasiq, along with the director general of intelligence, while the American delegation included officials from the White House’s National Security Council and the State Department, including the CIA.
In the meetings, the Taliban made it clear to the US officials that the Islamic Emirate will not fight other people’s wars.
In the meeting, the Taliban officials said that the Afghan Taliban had played the role of mediating and supporting the peace talks between the Pakistani government and the TTP.
The Taliban said peacekeeping was a problem for both sides, with Taliban officials assuring that Afghan soil would not be allowed to be used against anyone, even if it was not part of the US coalition.
According to Afghan sources, US officials also assured the Taliban that they would not provide financial support to any militant group in Afghanistan.
