Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Justice Athar Minullah remarked during the hearing on the petition against the PEMRA order banning the direct speech of Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan that by making a statement about the Pakistan Army, you want to demoralize him.
The hearing on the petition against the PEMRA order banning the direct speech of Imran Khan was conducted by the Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court, Atharmanullah, while Barrister Ali Zafar appeared in the court on behalf of Imran Khan.
Pemra’s counsel told the court that the purpose of issuing the show-cause notice was only to delay the speech, to which the court inquired why you do not implement the delay policy.
Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Justice Atharmanullah remarked that responsible people make irresponsible statements, you have to act according to the law, and the court will not interfere.
Lawyer Pemra said that our instructions were not for any particular person, on which the court asked if you agree with the last order of this court.
Chief Justice of Islamabad asked the lawyer of Imran Khan that did they hear the statement of Imran Khan yesterday. Is this how political leadership works? Does everything stack up for Game of Thrones?
Justice Athar Manullah said that Pakistan forces sacrifice their lives for us, if someone does illegal work, then everyone criticizes, take responsibility for what you want to do, and keep saying whatever you want The regulator should not regulate.
He further remarked that do not expect relief from the courts, it is the prerogative of the court, every citizen is a patriot, no one has the authority to issue a certificate, declare that someone is a patriot, no one is, then you say Give them open leave.
The Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court said that by making such a statement about the Pakistan Army, do you want to demoralize them? Can anyone say that there will be no patriots in Pakistan’s forces?
He said that what was said yesterday can be justified. When you make a statement in public, it has more impact.
The Islamabad High Court disposed of Imran Khan’s petition by ordering PEMRA to regulate speeches and statements in the light of the Supreme Court’s decision.
It may be recalled that PEMRA had banned the live broadcast of Imran Khan’s speech, which was challenged by Chairman PTI in the Islamabad High Court.
