Hundreds of former Democrats and Republicans have announced the formation of a new, third national party in the United States to win the support of millions of voters fed up with the two-party system.
According to the international news agency Reuters, the new party has been named ‘Forward’ and will initially be co-chaired by former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Young and former Republican Governor of New Jersey Christine Todd Whitman.
Forward Party leaders say they hope their new party will emerge as a better alternative to the Republicans and Democrats in American politics, the establishment of a new party based on political orthodoxy that has grown in American politics in the recent past.
