The Acting President of Sri Lanka once again imposed an emergency in view of the tense situation in the country.
According to media reports, the Acting President of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe, has declared a state of emergency to keep the environment peaceful during the voting in the parliament for the election of the new president of the country next week.
A statement issued by the Sri Lankan government said that the Acting President took this step to maintain public security, restore supplies and continue essential services for the lives of the people.
According to media reports, after the situation in Sri Lanka became tense, an emergency has been imposed several times since April.
It should be remembered that the former president of Sri Lanka Gotabaya Raja fled the country from Pakistan last week after which the new president will be elected.
