There is no shortage of movies that have been growing in popularity over time, and one that was a flop when it was released.
But the market for videocassettes made it the center of attention, and with the film still playing on TV screens, it would be impossible for most people to take their eyes off it.
The film is The Shawshank Redemption, which has been one of IMDB’s top-rated films since 2008.
He won the award with 1 million votes, surpassing The Godfather, and still has a lead of 300,000 votes.
Interestingly, this is not an action or thriller film, but its story progresses slowly, with the characters struggling to rise and fall.
Directed by Frank Darabont, the story is based on a novel by Stephen King, featuring a few short stories.
This is the story of two prisoners, Andy Dufferins (Tim Robinson) and Alice Redding (Morgan Freeman).
Andy was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his wife and an acquaintance, although he did not do so, while his fellow prisoner Red Reading told the story of the film.
In 1947, Andy was sentenced twice to life in prison and sent to Shashank State Prison, where he became friends with Alice Reed Reading, who gave Andy a hammer and a poster of Rita Hayworth.
In 1949, Andy had the opportunity to hear from the prison guards in charge, complaining about inheritance taxes and offering to save money.
Initially, Andy was subjected to torture by inmates, but with the help of the warden, he was given the job of managing the prison library, so that he could handle the financial affairs of other prison staff, including the warden, and other prison guards. Let’s say you can handle money laundering.
Andy’s efforts fund the library so that he can prepare prisoners for the outside world who have been released from prison for a long time.
Tommy Williams, a prisoner who came to the prison in 1965, became friends with Andy and Reid, and with Andy’s help, passed the General Educational Development Exam.
A year later, he reveals to Andy that a prisoner with him in another prison had claimed that he had committed the murders that led to Andy’s life imprisonment.
Andy informs the warden about this, but he refuses to listen, and when he talks about money laundering, he sends Andy back to prison, killing Tommy.
Andy then refuses to help with money laundering, after which the warden threatens to destroy the library and makes things worse for Andy.
Andy is released from prison after 2 months and tells Reid about his dream of living in a Mexican coastal town and tells him about a specific place. Will keep there
Then how Andy gets out of jail and what conditions Reed faces after his release, so much curiosity to watch the movie.
Some interesting facts
There are also some interesting facts behind this film that most people do not know.
The director turned down millions of dollars
The dream of making this film had been in the eyes of Frank Darabont for years and he got the story from Stephen King in the 1980s.
But during the making of the 90’s gift, the studio offered him 24 2.4 million and asked him to let someone else make the film, but he turned it down.
The names of the other actors were first considered for the lead roles
Tim Robinson and Morgan Freeman gave memorable performances, and it would be hard for Andy and Reid to think of other names without them, but the studio initially wanted to cast Tom Cruise and Harrison Ford for the lead roles.
Photo of Morgan Freeman’s son
The film’s protagonist, Alice Reed Reading, spent most of her life in prison, and the scene at the beginning of the film featured a mug shot (a picture of the offender’s face) with a picture of Reid Reading’s youth. Morgan belonged to Free Morgan.
The effect of good philanthropy
Morgan Freeman’s voiceover style in the film was mainly influenced by director Martin Source’s film ‘Good Phils’ in which the narrator tells the story in the best way.
A scene was changed after the release of the film
After its release in the cinema, Shashank declared a redemption flop and gained popularity in the home video market, but few people know that after the release, the director changed a scene and that was Warden’s suicide.
Scene shooting in 9 hours
The scene of Andy and Reid’s first conversation on the prison grounds was shot in 9 hours, and Morgan Freeman threw the baseball for 9 hours without complaint, and the next day his left arm was swinging in a bandage.
Spending some time in prison for the role
Tim Robinson spent some time in a single cell lockup while preparing to play Andy.
And yes, this is Morgan Freeman’s favorite movie.
